I chose this topic because all children need to have an equal opportunity, even though they are abled differently, we should treat them with respect and kindness.

Central Idea:
Children with disabilities are more vulnerable to abuse due to societal stigma, lack of resources and limited protection to their rights.
Three Big Questions:
- What are the types of abuse experienced by children with disabilities?
- What ways can we empower children with disabilities to reduce their vulnerability to abuse?
- What are the laws against child abuse and disabilities?
Three Short Answers:
- Children with disabilities can face neglect, emotional or physical abuse.
- We can empower disabled children by teaching themself advocacy, safety skills and building their confidence.
- Child Policy (2020): Guides protection of all children, including those with disabilities. Mental Health Act (2019): Protects children with mental conditions from abuse. Autism Court Rulling (2022): Demands services for children with autism.
HOW THEY CAN BE HELPED
We can help them by making them feel more loved and cared for.We can also empower them more so that they could stand up for themselves therefore,leading to a community where all children feel included.
Facts about child abuse
- Disabled children are more likely to be abused than children without disabilities
- Due to communication challenges, reporting child abuse is not easy.
- Disabled children are socially isolated, they are at risk of being abused.
- Abusing children can cause mental health.
- Caretaker can abuse their power.
Ways the community can help
- By Spreading awareness through online apps and social media.
- By reporting any abuse that is seen.
- By empowering the disabled children so that they feel confident.
