MESSAGE FROM THE PYP CURRICULUM COORDINATOR (PYPCC)
Students in PYP1-6 completed their MAP assessments from August 26 to September 12. These computer-based tests are conducted every term to establish a baseline of student performance at the start of the year, allowing teachers to tailor their teaching methods and enhance learning experiences.
Our first CCC of the year took place on September 6 and was instrumental in fostering strong relationships between the school, parents, and the wider community. During this session, we explored transdisciplinary teaching—a key feature of IB education. Parents participated in the planning process alongside teachers, generating innovative ideas for connecting different subject areas.
September has been a busy month for our PYP teaching staff, with approximately 80% currently engaged in IB professional development. The insights gained from these sessions will be invaluable in enhancing our teaching and learning practices.

PYP3 Unit in Action
PYP3 has been buzzing with activity! Students engaged in thoughtful discussions about role models, media influences, and their impact on personal choices. Last week, we concluded our first Unit with a Unit in Action event, where students explored the lives of notable figures such as inventor Thomas Edison, athlete Joshua Cheptegei, freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi, and social media influencer Khaby Lame.
Each of these individuals faced challenges that could have hindered their impact, prompting our students to reflect on valuable lessons. Throughout the Unit, they demonstrated excellent communication and social skills, becoming more knowledgeable and reflective in the process.
PYP5 Class Assembly
The PYP5 class assembly focused on the transdisciplinary theme “Who We Are.” Through the Unit “Being Me,” students showcased various aspects of their unique identities using dance, sports, gymnastics, singing, and storytelling. The event culminated in an impressive whole-class dance performance. A special thank you to all parents for attending and supporting the assembly!
